Current Cravings

Welcome back and HAPPY NEW YEAR! It's been quite some time, my apologies, but I was engulfed in my winter break and being able to relax. I spent some time in sunny California (which was actually cold and not that sunny) and enjoyed my family and not having any work for awhile. Then January got a hold of me and now, here we are, nearly at the end of the month. But I am back now. Back to the usual flow of things and trying to take in the new year and all that comes with it.

I've put together some of my currents wants. These are just items that I've been eyeing recently and would love to get my hands on in the near future. P.S. If you make it to the end of this post, you get a gold star!

I change my phone cases probably more than I should but I can't help it. I've been obsessed with this wooden case for awhile but couldn't justify paying so much for it. I might bite the bullet and splurge since I've been eyeing it for a while and I love the modern flare.

I must admit I'm not a huge accessory person, especially not watches. I have one watch that I wear constantly which is a gold Citizen watch that was handed down to me by my dad. He rocked it in the 80s and when I found it a few years ago, just idly hanging out, I decided that I needed to get some links removed and rock that bad boy. I haven't let my eyes wonder to any other watch until now. There's something about the classic simplicity of this Daniel Wellington watch that I love. I know that these are in now but I honestly wasn't even in the loop about this when looking for a black strapped watch. Hopefully by the time I want to reward myself with this, it's not overdone.

If you've seen me in person, and I'm not trying to toot my own horn here, you know my lashes are pretty long and tarantula-esque. I get asked pretty often what mascara I use and I'll probably remember that day but other than that, my mascara is pretty forgettable. I usually just grab whatever I can find and have no trouble...until recently. For some reason, recently, my mascara has been doing nothing for me. I've heard tons about this Tarte mascara and I think I've decided to delve out of my drugstore mascara pool. I'll keep you guys posted about the outcome!

I've heard awesome things about this corrector from some of my favorite YouTubers. To be honest, I might splurge and go pick this up this weekend!

You've probably seen this book everywhere so there's not much to be said. One of the things I really want to get back to doing this year is reading. I just need to decide on a book to start with. This one may very well be it!

I've been trying to get more comfortable with photography and the clean look of my digital camera but would love to also snap some shots and have tangible photos!

I've pretty much been in love with every Liberty of London collaboration ever and it definitely does not stop here. I've also been wanting a pair of Air Max's for ages so this is where those two beautiful worlds collide.

I know I'm late on this cut out boot bandwagon but to my defense, I already have a brown pair! I just need this black pair to make my life a little more complete!

If you've made it this far, I applaud you. Thank you for making it through my fantasy list. What stuff are you currently craving?!

What's in that ASOS bag?!

I'm back with this glorious ASOS backpack. This bag has turned into my everyday bag and since I am always on the go and usually out of the house all day, this bag is perfect! It is roomy enough to fit all my essentials and then some but is structured so it doesn't lose its shape. For some reason I am a huge fanatic of "What's in my bag" posts, probably because I'm nosey, so once I started this blog, I knew I had to post one of my own for my fellow nosey friends.

Some of my everyday essentials seen above include...
-my wallet, of course, which I got from Nordstrom Rack
-a book that I was gifted about the march during the Armenian Genocide (yay cultural history)
-my planner and notebooks, accompanied by a writing utensil (I love lists)
-my iPad and headphones (case from ebay)
-sunglasses (from Taxi Taxi)
-small bag for bobby pins and hair ties (gifted from Anthropologie)
-an extra pair of prescription glasses for when my contacts are acting up
-my necessities bag (from TJMaxx) which includes: EOS cherry blossom hand lotion, carmex healing           balm, Soft Lips berry mint Chapstick, hand sanitizer, face blotting sheets, contact solution, contact case, deodorant, and curling serum)

This may seem like a hefty amount of things to carry around but like I said, most of my days involve me leaving the house at 8am and not coming home until late in the evening so most of these things are necessary for my everyday functioning and I tend to be mildly OCD sometimes. Just giving you a realistic look into my life, it's not all glamor! What are your essentials that are always in your bag?

Fit | Lace&Leather

Top: TJMaxx
Jacket: Forever 21
Jeans: BDG from Urban Outfitters
Boots: Urban Outfitters
Bracelet: Forever 21
Necklace: R&P Jewelry
Backpack: ASOS

This blog has officially been christened with an outfit of the day post! I apologize for the lack of quality with these pictures, my camera was acting funny and I couldn't quite figure out why. I was heading out for some coffee and catching up with a friend and thought I would use the opportunity to snap some pictures of this quick outfit I threw together. I'm usually in yoga pants and a tank so this day was a bit of a step up for me. It's going to take some time to get comfortable taking pictures of myself, as I am pretty awkward, but bear with me! As you can tell, it wasn't the chilliest of winter days in Houston so this light jacket did the trick.  I was going to work on some blogging so I grabbed my new ASOS backpack which I am totally in LOVE with and few simple accessories including my current obsession necklace that I bought recently at a pop shop. I'm looking forward to a busy Friday and some new posts that I'm working on, including a look into what I keep in that glorious backpack. I hope everyone has a lovely day and for those of you in Houston...stay dry, my friends!

TV Time | Peaky Blinders

I'm back! I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving and ate lots of great food! I intended to hit the ground running after my first post but as usual, life got in the way and things got very hectic. I had a major choreography project that I had to finish up and now that that's done, I feel like a huge
weight has been lifted (the life of an artist). I was also busy buying way too many things online for Black Friday/Cyber Monday, needless to say, I'm not a bit more obsessed with Zara and had my first ASOS purchase(yay!). I also hit up another pop shop event with my bff which was awesome and it felt good to support local businesses in Houston. I mostly fed my mild obsession with skin/bath products that I'm having at the moment.

Aside from all that, I always make time to squeeze in tv shows with my love. We're currently at about 7 or 8 running shows and we just keep adding more. The current obsession is PEAKY BLINDERS! If you haven't heard of it, it's a show from the UK that centers aren't the gangster family of the Peaky Blinders and is set in Birmingham, England in 1919 right after WWI. The main character is played by Cillian Murphy, who is an extremely mysterious and intimidating character. Currently in the first season, a chief inspector has been sent to the city to clean up IRA, gangs and common criminals.

Along with the interesting plot, the cinematography really caught my eye. The shots mostly all have a dark tone but are also very vivid at the same time. The camera is used very well and the angles are very pleasing and intriguing. I also love the accents. I can't help it. There are an array of different accents even though they all seem to be from the same place which is a bit confusing yet interesting for me. It thickens the plot, a bit.

So if you don't watch it, go watch it! It's on Netflix. And if you do watch it, let's talk about it!

These are a few of my favorite things... | November

I've rounded up some of my new and old favorite things that I've found myself reaching for this month. Some of these items are completely new to me and brands that I definitely see myself coming back to and others are classics. So without further ado...

I've never been a huge candle person but I picked this one up out of an overwhelming selection at my local TjMaxx for the simple fact that I love hazelnut and I was not disappointed. When I first took a whiff of the candle, it was light but not too overwhelming. When I brought it home and lit it, I was surprised at how well it fragranced the room. I lit it for about thirty minutes and my room smelled lovely and warm for a few hours after. I've been lighting this candle constantly for the past couple weeks and could probably use it for another month or so. I tried finding the website for the candle maker, but had no luck. Here's to hoping that it's a product that TjMaxx brings back!

Now to talk about the classics. I've had this Chanel No. 5 perfume for quite some time now. To be honest, my everyday life is so on the go and involves me in yoga pants so often, that I tend to be the body spray kinda girl. But every once in awhile, I wanna feel like a lady and although this perfume was an acquired smell, it is now my go-to scent on those days when I want to channel my inner Audrey Hepburn. It reminds me of pearls and my grandmother in the best way possible. It is a little pricey but a little goes a long way with this one and is perfect for special occasions.

This Dr. Jart+ Black Label Detox BB Beauty Balm is my new favorite thing in the world! Like I mentioned before, as a dancer and working in the dance world, I'm always on the go and in yoga pants and comfortable clothing. When I wake up in the morning, I want to look put together and fresh faced without looking like I caked on pounds of makeup. This BB cream is the perfect everyday foundation replacement that actually works while it's on your face. The cream blends almost perfectly to my skin tone and I've actually noticed that my face looks better at the end of the day when I take off my makeup. The cream has a formula that calms and purifies the skin and gives you more of a radiant glow plus SPF 25. YAY better skin! I normally wouldn't have spent so much money on a BB Cream but after getting a sample of this in my Birchbox a few months ago and going through a few drugstore products, I went for it and don't regret it a bit. You just need a small pump to cover the face and you're ready to take on the day!

I discovered Black Kettle Soap Company a few weeks ago when I went to a local Pop Up Market here in Houston. I had been wanting to transition into using more organic products for my skin and when I saw this booth set up, I was intrigued. The man who makes these products with his wife started doing this because all of his daughters have skin conditions including eczema and found that they were allergic to many products out there. These products are all made with simple, organic ingredients for different skin types that do the job just as well, if not better at incredibly reasonable prices. I picked up this sugar scrub, which is great for full body use in the shower as well as a lip scrub, this oatmeal and honey soap that makes my hands incredibly soft after use and also smells AMAZING, a clementine lip butter that leaves my lips soft for hours, and a jasmine and honey bath bomb (not pictured because I couldn't wait to use it) that gives me a spa like experience with actual jasmine flowers. All of these products smell LOVELY and help to make my skin feel great especially during these winter months. I cannot wait to try out more products from this company!

What are some of your favorite winter products?

p.s. I purchased all of these products and these reviews are my genuine thoughts. No one has paid me or gifted me these items. I'm not that special ;)

music | psychoLOGICal

Let's talk about music. But before we begin...disclaimer: this is about me sharing the music that I enjoy and is in no way some type of expert rating system. So with that said...

When it comes to music, I'm truly one of those "listen to everything" types of people. Looking through my iPod you'll find a melting pot of music from all walks of life. I will say recently, I've delved and somewhat stayed in the rap world, which could partially, if not entirely, be because of other people's influence. But I'm not complaining. Now I'm not gonna sit here and act like I'm this big hip hop head. When it comes to this genre, I stick to what works for me and what I find interesting about individual artists. I think it's easy to get into a monotonous sound, so when I find rappers who chime a little different, I'm hooked. Some of my most listened to artists both recently and during different time periods of my life include: Eminem(G.O.A.T.), Childish Gambino, Kendrick Lamar, Kid Cudi, Odd Future(I have a soft spot for Tyler), Joey Bada$$ and so many more. Every once in awhile I get in a funk where I'm desperately in need of some fresh music and I'm so glad that I discovered Logic. ( I know I'm late in this discovery, don't make fun!)

I'm not sure how it happened, but it did, and I'm so glad it did. Logic's recently released album, Under Pressure has been on repeat constantly for about the last ten days. The first couple days involved just scratching the surface and deciding if I liked this guy. After that, I really began analyzing the lyricism and looking into him as an artist. One thing that really stuck with me was his positive, hard working, focused outlook on life. Through his music, the agility and cleverness are what got me hooked. Some stand out tracks from the album, for different reasons, include "Intro", "Gang Related", "Nikki" and "Now", just to name a few. The commentary with facts about the making of the album from our Under Pressure  tour guide, Thalia, add some interesting insight and satisfy my craving for skits in albums. I have no doubt I'll be listening to this album for some time and now looking into some of his older stuff. So if you get a chance, take a listen for yourself!

"You are not defined by the material you possess or the amount of money in your bank account, what defines you is how you attain them." -Logic

And so it begins...

Well, I've finally done it. I've decided to embark on this journey and I thank you for coming along on this ride. For those of you who know me...hello friends! For those of you who don't, here's a little about myself...

My name is Anasheh and I am 24 year old brown-eyed, dancing girl, who calls Houston, Texas home<3 I've been wanting to start blogging for awhile, but just didn't know where to begin so I guess I'm just gonna dive right in and hope I can float. I hope to share my interests and life experiences both with friends and family to keep connected but also with fresh faces in order to make new connections through this engaging platform.

Now this isn't gonna be a blog full of #ootd. My life consists of so much more than that and so will this journal. I'd like to share my ideas on music, movies, food, fitness, fashion, beauty, art, etc. and hope to have some conversations.

I thank you, once again, for reading this and I look forward to what's to come. Goodbye for now and see you again, soon!
